Genee Ballet Competition 2015

The Genee International Ballet Competition returns to London this year. I shot two of the previous medal recipients for The Royal Academy of Dance.

The winner of this year’s competition will be announced at the end of the week.

Here is the enchanting Francesca ‘Frankie’ Hayward who was silver medallist in 2010.

Dance Gazette Cover Shoot

I was recently invited to do a cover shoot of prima ballerina Francesca Hayward for Dance Gazette.

We did the shoot at the Royal Opera House which is always buzzing with energy in its warren of corridors and studios, packed with dancers focused on their next task, or simply getting a moment’s rest before the next rehearsal.

It is a challenge to photograph something with such an extensive visual history like ballet in a ‘new’ or ‘different’ way. And why should one even attempt to do that ? We are all most at ease with ‘the familiar’ and ‘the usual’ because we know it works.

Thankfully Francesca, the ROH pr team and the guys at Dance Gazette were made of sterner stuff.

I recently visited Trans IP in The Netherlands to do a series of portraits for their U.K launch.

They do lots of techy stuff that stores things, makes everything run faster and makes people happier. As you can tell I’m a tech wizard.

Here are some of the wonderful people behind the company.
